American power yoga was developed by Bryan Kest and Beryl Bender Birch, follower of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in around 1995. They used the word power to differentiate between the normal slow and calm way of doing yoga with intense and free flowing yoga. American power yoga has basically evolved out of Vinyasa yoga and that’s why at times is called as Power Vinyasa yoga. Proper practice and guidance is needed because how long you will be able to hold a particular Asan will depend upon your ability to hold and control your breath. This will develop with practice. As vigorous exercises have to be done under this form of yoga, it results in producing heat inside the body due to increased energy demands and metabolism. This in turn will cause perspiration and relates to the detoxification because of exercises.
