There are many forms of yoga to follow. One of them is Yin Yoga. There are some beliefs followed in Yin Yoga. The Asanas practised in this form have to be done up till an adequate depth. The pose has to be maintained upto a point where you feel no stretch or pain and breath is easy to take. While doing Yin Yoga you must feel that the body is still. In Yin Yoga each pose has to be held in for long periods, atleast 3-5 minutes. The basic philosophy of Yin Yoga is to stimulate the inner energy known as Chi and maintain the proper flow of energy throughout the body.
This form of yoga helps to maintain and rebuild the strength and elasticity in soft tissues. It is basically works on the soft tissues around pelvis, lower back and hips. According to exercise physiology muscles responds well to recurring movements whereas connective tissue does to static and prolonged holds. The tendons, ligaments and fascia helps to maintain and support the joints. As Yin Yoga focuses on static holds and does good to connective tissue it is usually considered to be yoga for joints. It helps to properly align the connective tissues and make the joint stronger. Yin Yoga helps relieving increased tension and spasms in the body. Yin Yoga re energizes your body and also maintains the flow of energy in our body so it seems to be at par with acupuncture. Meditating and concentrating on one’s own breath while maintaining a pose helps to control emotions and be psychologically strong. Yin Yoga is usually practised when the muscles are not warm and the stretch during the workout is totally focused upon the soft tissues. This can also be used as a warm up exercise.
